About Jawbone Pottery
My name is Wendolyn Rose, and I am the creator of Jawbone Pottery. I started this business in 2025 as a creative outlet for my designs. I have always had an interest in drawing but never thought it would be practical for me to explore. But after transferring from my local community college to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and starting in their BFA program, I was introduced to creating sculptures with clay. This came so naturally that I was encouraged to apply to SAIC. In 2018, I continued to explore sculpting with clay based mediums while attending SAIC. That same year, I first taught hand building courses at a local studio in Chicago for a year to which I had to leave due to life events. I took a 6 year break before returning back to teaching art in 2024. During this time I was able to create and teach my own hand building workshops and intro classes. As I started working with clay again I started to explore and challenge myself to find my style. Through my own designs created from my first year in art school in 2016, I was inspired to transfer them onto pottery.
Since creating Jawbone, I have sold out at local makers markets and have had pieces featured at local stores such as “Wolfbait & B-Girls” and “Momo & Co.”. My goal in this endeavor is to continue to explore and create anatomically correct and surrealist designs that can be enjoyed and shared through the art community.
